Junior Auxiliary of Houma’s Scholarship

The Junior Auxiliary of Houma organization established this scholarship with the goal of supporting a deserving Terrebonne Parish 2024 graduate who exhibits dedication to education, leadership, and community service. Comprised of women dedicated to assisting children and fostering positive change in their communities, the Junior Auxiliary values empowering future leaders through education. The scholarship, amounting to $2,000, will be disbursed in two installments over the recipient's freshman year to aid in their academic pursuits.

Qualifications:

• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must be graduating from from a public or private high school located in Terrebonne Parish. If homeschooled, must reside in Terrebonne Parish.
• Must enroll part time or full time in a post-secondary institution (university, college, technical, or vocational school).
• Preference will be given to applicants entering a career field addressing the special needs of children and youth (including but not limited to Childcare, Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health, Special Education, Speech Pathology, Education, Social Work, etc.) Other concentrations will be considered.
• Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating service to their school or community.
• Immediate family members (spouse, children) of active JA of Houma members are not eligible for scholarship.

Additional Details:

JA of Houma scholarship committee will review applicants and will have a final decision by April. The winner will get $1,000 for their first fall semester of college. The second installment of $1000 will be made the following January of the second semester and is contingent on a 3.0 GPA for the first semester. Please note that the checks are made out and mailed directly to the student’s college account.
