MACDONELL KIDS COUNT

All children should feel extra special at some point in their life.  And the beautiful children at the MacDonell Children’s Home in East Houma are no exception.  Through this project our members host birthday celebrations and activity days monthly that bring lots of joy to the residents.

Our goal with this project is to enhance the quality of life for these residents, and ultimately aid in preparing them to be responsible, independent citizens as best as we can, through ongoing emotional support.  Children become residents at the MacDonell Children’s Home when certain circumstances arise that leave these children in need of a “safe, loving, and nurturing environment.”   Residents are males, ages 11-17 who have been placed in “state custody due to neglect, abuse, and/or abandonment”.
